Sign up is online via our website. Choose the event you want to play in when sign ups open, and follow the instructions on the screen to register and pay. More information about event sign-up can be found in the Event Registration Guide.
For Wednesday night events, online registration opens at 5 pm on Mondays for groups of three or more, 6 pm for singles and twosomes.
For Weekend events, online registration typically starts on Sunday morning, two weeks out, and goes until the Tuesday evening (9 days later).
No, but if you're flexible, you can usually get into an event. By flexible, we mean that you may not get a full tee time, so you and your friends may have to split up. Singles can always find a group.
Our prime time tee times are between 3:30 and 5:20 PM on Wednesday nights. You can expect that these will always fill quickly every week with 4-5 players. That gives us room for 180 players at the most during the most popular times. We average over 300 players on Wednesdays, so the math is pretty obvious -- not every group can have a prime tee time.
If you can play early on Wednesday, between 2:00 and 3:30 PM, you should almost never have a problem getting a full group in. At the heart of the season when our days are longest, we will start groups as late as 6:20 PM.
In the shoulder season, we don't have enough daylight to get every full group in that wants to get in. This is an unfortunate reality in April when everyone is eager to play, especially when the weather is nice.
We play by the USGA rules of golf in our events. There are no mulligans, no fluffing of your lie, no raking putts. In addition to becoming familiar with the USGA rules, we encourage you to read through our local rules: BHMC Local Rules.
A full explanation of the rules and format of each event is available on our website on the event detail page, which is where you land when you sign up. We also publish our BHMGC Policies and Procedures on the club website. Please take time to read through this information, as you are responsible for knowing and understanding our rules and policies.
We use the Golf Genius app for all events. There is a live leaderboard so you can follow how everyone is doing in close to real time.
Every event that you play in will have a unique code for scoring (called a GGID). That code is included on the tee sheet, which is posted to the website after close of entries, typically by Tuesday night (for weekly events) or by Thursday for weekend events.
Only one person in a group needs to keep score. It is the responsibility of every player to make sure his score is correct at the end of play.
The sign-up fee to join the club is $130/year. $30 of that goes to the MGA for your handicap. The rest goes into the general fund to support the running of the club, with most going back to the membership in the form of event prizes.
Each event has an entry fee, $5 for 9-hole events, $10 for 18-hole events, and $20 for 36-hole major events. These fees are in addition to the green fees for play. 100% of event fees are returned to the flight winners in the form of pro-shop credit. We try to pay 25-30% of the field for each event.
Optional cash skins competitions are also available and the cost is $5 per nine (i.e. for majors, we kick in $10 since we're playing 18 holes). You may choose gross or net competition or both. Skins come back to the winners in cash.
USGA handicapping is included with your membership. When you signed up for the BHMGC, you were automatically signed up for a handicap via GHIN.
If you don't currently have an official handicap, you have to play and post scores for 54 holes. That is three full rounds, six 9-hole rounds, or a combination.
Do not delay getting a handicap! If you haven't established an index, you play at scratch. It is way more fun in our club when you have an honest handicap that reflects your current ability. All of our events are flighted by handicap and members play for both NET (with your strokes) and GROSS (your raw score) places.
When you play in a Wednesday or weekend event, your scores will be entered for you.
